What is Psoriasis of the Liver?

Psoriasis of the Liver is commonly thought to be the development of skin psoriasis because of the liver not functioning properly. The liver is the organ in our body who's job it is to help clear out wastes and toxins. If the liver is damaged or not working properly, those wastes and toxins cannot be removed from the body effectively. And when wastes and toxins aren't removed, various health problems can occur.

One of these is psoriasis. Psoriasis is a skin condition which usually manifests itself on elbows, knees or the scalp. Psoriasis can occur anywhere on the body though, including your back, genitals, feet and ankles among other places.

Psoriasis is thought to be caused by an over reaction of our body's immune system to stress, disease, infections and other triggers. Normally our skin revitalizes and replaces itself about once each month. Old skin on the surface dies off and is shed while new skin cells are developed deep below. These new skin cells rise to the surface over the course of about 30 days, to replace those that are being shed. With psoriasis however, those new skin cells push to the surface within just a few days, so the skin cells pile up, creating scales, itching, redness and other symptoms.

The liver is the waste disposal and filtering system in our body. When the liver is blocked, damaged, or ill in some way, it's not working properly. And when the liver isn't working properly, the whole body suffers. Toxins that aren't filtered by the liver leak back into the blood stream, then the body tries to dispose of them through sweat. Many people feel this is a common cause of psoriasis: Since the liver isn't or can't do its job properly, the body is struggling to cope as best it can through other waste and toxin disposal means.

There are many natural ways to deal with psoriasis of the liver, and most of these involve improving your body's health. Taking additional vitamins and minerals for instance, can help greatly. But natural herbs tend to be the best choice for improving your body's health, because many focus on improving the health of the liver specifically.

Changing the way you eat also helps with psoriasis of the liver. Again though, this actually involves improving your body's health so that it can cleanse itself of all the built up toxins in your blood stream, thus the liver can begin to heal and work properly again.

A quick way to help resolve problems with psoriasis of the liver is to do a body detoxification program. These can be done using a vegetable juice fast, lemonade diet fast, and through the use of popular colonic cleansers such as enemas, fiber, or colon cleaning dietary supplements.

The speed at which you can recover from psoriasis of the liver depends greatly on a variety of factors. If your liver is damaged, it will take your body longer to heal, repair and recover from that. If however, your liver is simply clogged up from too many years of misuse, it may not take as long to start seeing results. Everyone will progress at different speeds however, because some people can have more toxins in their body than others do, and some may have other health issues that the body will need to address at the same time.
